Jacques-Yves Costeau
Jacques, a man of the ocean, represented in a calm, if not dark and intimate space. The use of a glass panel infill opens his work up to all who enter, whilst an upstairs viewing platform allows for triumphant, often earth changing speeches to be made. His upstairs space, more private and practical, with an L-shaped hall for experiments, and a thinking space at the top of his lab, to look out, to the horizon, or over the outdoor space, and contemplate his place in the world. As this space juts out into the sky, Jacques is isolated in his favourite place, nature.
